Although it seems that it is the easiest thing on earth to simply drop some rocks into an aquarium, it is , in fact, in well designed aquaria, an act that is reasoned and informed choices have to be made. Apart from the aesthetics of rocks used, their chemical composition has to be checked, impurities have to be known, so that they do not affect the water chemistry of the aquatic biotope in which they are used.
